Luke 5: 12-16

(Luke 5: 12-16) Jesus is coming down after completing the Sermon on the Mount, recording the first miracle. Leprosy was the most taboo disease for the Jews as a result of their sin. Leprosy is the appearance of being cursed by God. When Moses welcomed the woman of Goose as his wife, Miriam mocked and God punished and became leprosy.

In Leviticus 13:1-14, leprosy patients were deprived of the synagogue community and the family community. In this social context, Jesus' healing of sickness to lepers shows that Jesus is the Messiah who can cure any disease. According to the law, the one who came in contact with the leper also became unclean himself. Therefore, no one could touch the leper.

Even the priests at the time could not touch the patient, and only the judgment of the disease or the ceremonial ruling ceremony could be held. But Jesus was interested in such an unclean person and touched him. By showing that there is no contagion, it reveals that Jesus is the only true Messiah who can heal (save) the deadly punishment of sin, symbolized by leprosy.

Jesus also followed the law until he died on the cross. "Jesus said to the leper, "Show your body to the priest and give the offerings Moses commanded to prove them to you." In the early days of the Gospels, Jesus said, "Don't tell anyone." Jesus gave this command to prevent the Jews from knowing Jesus correctly and misunderstanding Jesus because Jesus began his public ministry as the Messiah.
