Luke 2: 1-7
(Luke 2: 1-7) And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cæsar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judæa, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Jesus also had fleshly brothers. Only Jesus was conceived and born by the Holy Spirit. But I lay in a manger. Because there was no place to be in the inn. Because people refused. The first Christmas was such a serious situation. Today, Christmas is a festive atmosphere. It is hard to know who the owner of Christmas is. In Christmas, Jesus is the main character.
The Magi only worshiped Jesus. Christmas should be a day to worship only Jesus. But that Jesus was born in a manger because there was no place to lie in the inn. That Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, but was not Jesus who worked miracles, but was rejected by people. To those who do not repent, he becomes a foolish Jesus. Mary and Joseph came to Bethlehem to register their families, but no one helped. On that day, Mary would have thought only of the birth of Jesus. The first Christmas was Jesus, whom no one received. Also, when God was born to Mary, God did not reveal circumstances such as “Go to a house”.
Bethlehem's first Christmas was not a festival, but a tragedy. Herod killed all boys under the age of three. When Moses was born, the devil knew that Moses was the savior of the Jewish people, and just as the devil knew when he was born, the devil knew when Jesus Christ was born, and he killed Herod like that. There would have been no such tragedy in the history of the world. The first Christmas was only weeping. It was an anxious and painful day for Mary. It was a day of death or life. The main character of Christmas is Jesus. That is why we realize His will through Christmas and are crucified with Christ and reborn.
God wants us to be conceived by the Holy Spirit. This is called born again. The meaning of Christmas that Jesus wants is that He wants us to be born again by the Holy Spirit. Jesus wants the Holy Spirit to enter into those who deny and repent. This is only salvation. It is a lie to say that if you do not repent and just believe in Jesus, you will be saved. Those who repent are saved only when they are born again with water and the Holy Spirit. The conditions for salvation are repentance to God and faith in Jesus Christ. There may be people who say they believe in God but have not repented, but there can be no saying that they repent but lack faith. When you repent, God gives you faith as a gift. This is grace and blessing.
In Matthew 1:21, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 』These words are written in Greek Jesus' English name is Jesus. There was no J in the alphabet about 500 years ago. J starts from Latin. It was Yesus in the English Bible before 1511. However, by the Catholics, J in Latin came into English and became Jesus. When the angel spoke to Joseph, he would have spoken in Hebrew. Jesus' Hebrew is Joshua.
The Jews remember Moses, who crossed the Red Sea, but Joshua, who crossed the Jordan, rarely remembered. It is not salvation to cross the Red Sea, but salvation to cross the Jordan with Joshua and enter Canaan. Today, most people paint the blood of a lamb and believe that if they believe in Jesus, they will be saved.
