Luke 20:20-26

(Luke 20:20-26)

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.  And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:  Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cæsar, or no?  But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?  Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Cæsar's.  And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar's, and unto God the things which be God's. And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

Church people are usually taught that the things of the world should be paid as taxes and that of God should be paid as tithing to the church. In 1 Corinthians 15:50, "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. The world means that it cannot be connected with the kingdom of God. There is no God in the world. However, the kingdom of God will come to those who are regenerated, that is, those who have been reborn as a spirit body. The spiritual body is with God, and the physical body is on earth. The flesh of this world will someday die and rot.

When we speak of Caesar's and God's, Caesar's is of this world, but God's is of God-given Spirit. However, the church is telling us to give the things of the world to Caesar and to God. Those who say that are because God created this world, and everything in this world is God's. However, since everything in this world is given to Satan by God, everything in this world becomes Satan's. Caesar is the name of the Roman emperor, but symbolizes the king of the world, Satan. This means that the things of this world belong to Caesar.

In 1 John 2:15-16, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. The things of this world belong to Satan.

Caesar's is everything in the world. It means to pay everything in the world in taxes. God's does not mean tithing, it means God-given spirit. In Leviticus 27:30, ``And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: it is holy unto the LORD.
In the Old Testament times, it was accepted according to the law, but since Jesus died to the law in the New Testament, those who are in Christ are not subject to the law, but are guided by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, those who are in Christ must not obey the law.
