Luke 17: 11-19

(Luke 17: 11-19)

And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:  And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?  There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

Today, if there is something that many church people do not believe in what Jesus Christ has accomplished, they will not enter Christ, as Israelites who did not believe in promises. Jesus said he came to this world to call sinners. Sinners are all human beings who have left God. So only those who realize that they are sinners who have left God know the meaning of Jesus' words. Those who have left God are poor, blind, sick, and imprisoned for the kingdom of God. Even those who do not know about the kingdom of God are expressed as demons. Thus, they are those under the authority of Satan. Those who have left God are strangers in this world.

In the Bible, ten (10) means full, whole. The ten lepers are those who have left God. Ten lepers came to Jesus to heal. Jesus said. "Go shew yourselves unto the priests" means that you are still under the law (the law of wrath). Jesus healed a leper, and told him to go to the priest and be sure that he had been cleansed by offering "the gift prescribed by Moses."

Leviticus (14: 1-9) sets out the ordinances. We must know the meaning of "to be cleansed two birds", cedar wood and scarlet, and hyssop, running water, earthen vessel. This is the rule for lepers. The meaning of a bird is as follows: When Jesus spoke a parable in Matthew 13, he said, "Heaven is like a mustard seed sown in a field." Later, he said that mustard seeds sprouted, stalked, grew, and many birds dwell. Mustard seed is said to be heaven. So, birds mean people. The cedar is the material of the ark from Genesis (6:14). Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

Gopher trees are cedars. Noah paints bitumen in the ark, which symbolizes the blood of Jesus. Thus, cedar became the material of the Ark to symbolize Jesus Christ.

The Bible speaks of the  scarlet: In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, the rich man was wearing purple, and the purple man was made of red the scarlet. The scarletis the material for the tabernacle, the veil, and the priestly garments. the scarlet represents the priest. The Bible says in Exodus (26:1).

Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them. And the Bible says in Exodus (28: 6-8). And they shall make the ephod of gold, of blue, and of purple, of scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work. It shall have the two shoulderpieces thereof joined at the two edges thereof; and so it shall be joined together. And the curious girdle of the ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same, according to the work thereof; even of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen. The ephod was worn by the priest.

The Bible says about hyssop: When David committed a sin, he asked him to cleanse it with hyssop. Hyssop is the brush that took the blood of sheep.

The Bible says in Exodus (12: 21-22).Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.

As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: (Leviticus 14: 6)

The running water means "live." The law is lifeless. But Christ is hidden in the law. The hidden Christ becomes the water of life. The law acts as a teacher to revive and bring to life. Water is the word of God. The word "hidden of life" is the law. An earthen vessel is a clay bowl. This means the human body.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians (4:7). But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. The treasure is Jesus Christ. An earthen vessel is Christ and those in Christ. It is the Son of Man who brings the law to truth. So here an earthen vessel represents the Son of Man. This means killing clean birds in the Son of Man, an earthen vessel.

And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field. (Leviticus 14: 7) This means that if we die in Christ, new life will be born. Two birds die and live for the leper. In the end, the leper dies and lives in Christ.

God causes Israel to be cleansed for the following reasons: All sicknesses of the flesh are taken away, but this shows that in the future Jesus will completely heal leprosy (sin). To those who have left God realize that they will return to Him through Christ. Likewise, having God keep the people in the law requires them to find Christ and return to God.

Lepers, who have departed from God, look upon this and look to Christ, who can be free from disease forever. So, realize that God has left God by performing the ordinances prescribed by Leviticus. Israel has kept the law for more than 1,500 years. They did not realize what God intended in Leviticus.

Jesus told ten lepers (all the people who had left God) to go to the priest and show them. Before Jesus healed a leper, he told the priest to go and show it. It includes the meaning that your body will soon be clean. All lepers went to the priest. Nine lepers have gone to the priests prescribed by the law. But one (Samaritan) went to the eternal high priest who followed Melchizedek's order. Nine lepers would have performed the cleansing rites of the Law. One Samaritan returned to Jesus. Thus, there was no need for the cleansing rite prescribed by the law. Jesus sanctified with the Word. "Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole."

Nine lepers have gone to the law, and only Samaritan lepers have returned to the gospel. Jesus took away all the sins of ten people, but only one repented and returned to Jesus Christ. Today, those who live legally must sacrifice each year. Thus, they think they must repent daily and be forgiven of their sins by the blood of Jesus. But those who are in Christ believe that Jesus Christ is free from all sin by offering sacrifices at once. Those who do not die with Jesus Christ come to mind every day. So they think they must repent every day. In Romans 6: 7 the dead are released from sin. The dead with Christ fight against evil every day. They fight against Satan and become overcomers. It is led by the Holy Spirit.
