Luke 14:25-35

And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Jesus said, "If you are invited to a person's house and eat, and invite a meal, do not invite the rich, but the poor." The poor man is blessed because there is no way to repay it. By the way, the person we ate with was "Blessed is everyone who eats bread in the kingdom of God." It seems to be a Pharisee. So, they seem to talk to Jesus, thinking that they can eat bread in the kingdom of God. Hearing this, Jesus told us that through the parable of the marriage feast (Luke 14:16-24), the Gentiles would be saved. Jesus explains who can eat bread in the kingdom of God, ``If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also. , he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. 』 It means to abandon the flesh in order to save the spirit. By the way, Jesus is speaking by linking this word with “to build a tower and those who want to fight war”. "Anyone to build a tower and to fight war" "abandon" a plan that can't be achieved. It means giving up and throwing away everything you think you can do on your own. This is a message to the Pharisees who are trying to achieve righteousness by keeping the law. Jesus said that he came to give the world a sword. The sword is a fighting weapon. The sword is the word of God. Because the believers receive the word of God, disputes arise in the family of unbelievers. When you realize the Word, your fleshly heart becomes the object of battle. So, you realize that something that comes from the flesh is killing the spirit. The spirit who has sinned in the kingdom of God is trapped in the body, and the spirit is dead by the body. In order to save the spirit, the body must die. That is why those who realize this believe that the flesh is dead because they are united with Jesus who died on the cross.
