Luke 12:13-21

(Luke 12:13-21)

And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.  And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?  And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.  And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?  And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.  And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.  But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?  So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

The purpose of Jesus' coming into this world came for a ransom death for all in the world. In Matthew 20:28, Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. To be a ransom means to be a sacrifice. The ransom has the concept of saving. All humans have become slaves to Satan. It happened because the spirits who followed Satan who sinned in God's kingdom were confined in the flesh, and for those who realized that and repented, God bought slaves of sin at the price of Jesus' blood. The cost of that blood is ``For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. In other words, everyone who is united with the death of Christ is released from the servant of Satan by applying the blood of the covenant.

Jesus is talking about the ability to obtain heavenly life through the parable of the rich man. Someone came to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, order my brother to share the inheritance with me." It can be presumed that a miscarriage problem occurred due to the death of the parents. Jesus is an expression of absurdity about this saying, "Oh, man, who made me your judge or divider?" It is absurd because people don't seem to know much about the legacy.

Heritage and inheritance are God's promises. The land of Canaan, which God promised to Israel, is the inheritance. In Genesis 12:7, "And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. God promised Abraham that his descendants would enter the land of Canaan. So, when descendants enter Canaan, they become an inheritance.

However, they did not believe in God's promise that if the Israelites who were exodus through Moses entered the land of Canaan, they would die. Only two men, Joshua and Caleb, believed in God's promise. So, only these two people and the children born in the wilderness entered Canaan. In Exodus 32:13, ``Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. So, Joshua entered the land of Canaan and gave distribution to each tribe. People of each tribe came to live in the land as an inheritance.

God promised Israel the land of Canaan, and gave Israel the law at Mount Sinai. So, he promised that if Israel keeps the law well, he will make it the kingdom of God. It is a promise to give Israel the kingdom of God when that inheritance is fulfilled. It means that if Israel does not fulfill the law, it will be destroyed. The inheritance is to be passed down from generation to generation. The inheritance was passed down from generation to generation through the eldest son. The inheritance involves inheriting the kingdom of God through an inherited land.

It is a promise that if Israel keeps the law well, it will become a people of the kingdom of God. However, when someone asked Jesus about his brother's inheritance problem, Jesus was embarrassed because he only talked about wealth without knowing the meaning of the inheritance. Jesus said, "Am I the judge who divides wealth?" That is why Jesus came to tell the parable of the rich man mixed up.
