Luke 22:21-27

(Luke 22:21-27) But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed! And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.  And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.  And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.  But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.  For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

Judas Iscariot received thirty silver from the priest and sold Jesus. He became a disciple of Jesus, but betrayed and sold him. Why did Judas Iscariot, Jesus' disciple, sell Jesus? Judas Iscariot was chosen as one of the twelve, but unlike the other disciples, he did not use the title of "Lord" toward Jesus, instead calling Jesus a rabbi, and not admitted more than a teacher. Therefore, it can be said that he had no faith in Jesus.

As seen in John 12:5-6, Judas became greedy and betrayed the trust of Jesus as well as his fellow disciples. Judas may have wanted to follow Jesus just because he knew he had many followers and believed he could benefit from fundraising. The fact that Judas was in charge of a bag of money for the group indicates that his interest was in money. Also, Judah, like most people at that time, believed that the Messiah would overthrow Roman colonization and assume the position to exercise power over the state of Israel.

Judas may have followed Jesus hoping to benefit from a connection with Him who would rise as a new ruling political force. Undoubtedly, he expected himself to become one of the ruling elites after the revolution. At the time of Judas' betrayal, Jesus made it clear that he planned to die rather than initiate a rebellion against Rome. So Judas would have been convinced that, as the Pharisees did, that if he did not overthrow Rome, he was never the Messiah he expected.

Judas Iscariot's mind means that he is ultimately under the control of Satan. If we do not abide in the words of Jesus, everyone can become like Judas Iscariot. The church does not say, "You were born to be loved by God," but must say, "You are in the power of Satan, clothed in Christ, and freed from Satan." The Church must tell everyone that the Spirit is dead because it is governed by Satan's power.

Because the spirit is dead, we cannot meet God. It is contradictory to say that you have met God while under Satan's control. If you do not dress as the Christ of the cross, you do not meet God, but you are caught by the devil. These people worship the devil, but they think they are worshiping God. That is why they are children of wrath.
